Is it what the teacher teaches or what the student learns?

The Teacher or the Student?

“Is it what the teacher teaches or what the student learns?”*

You can have the best teacher in the world, and learn nothing.

You can have a terrible teacher, and learn much.

What kind of student are you?

Do you observe, absorb, and apply what you learn?

Some teachers are good examples, others are bad ones.

We can learn from those we wish to become like and from those we wish never to become like.

Being a Good Student

The value of a good teacher is not to be underestimated, but I feel we more often underestimate the value of being a good student.

The value of working and thinking hard. Of reasoning, logic, purpose, and meaning. Of striving to become who God has made us to be in His strength.

It is often a matter of wisdom more than brute effort. Of striving, and ceasing, of exertion and rest.

Without work or without rest, it is very difficult to learn. I need to remind myself to embrace the cycle.
